Comedy at the College - 80% better set

Listening through my set I recorded (just out of blue, begun to deconstruct everything), I have approximately 4 minutes of good stuff...-ish. I will have to a. stretch and b. fill in with stuff I usually take out due to whichever crowd I've got before me.

Otherwise, a lovely evening, and will work better for the first few weeks FREE rather than whatever they were requesting payment for.

The Other Open Mic Night - Monday nights at the Lounge in BlackFriars/St Pauls

Last night was spent opening Tom's new night at the Lounge in Blackfriars. A lovely room, really lovely, full of potential. Not too far from the Central line and no expectations of anyone but drunken stock traders during the weekends instead, but with enough marketing Tom can have a really good gig there.

He gave me 10 minutes and I ranted for 13, and most of it was ranting but I did grab a great new joke out of it regarding my German mates in the kitchen one great morning. I'll be using that in my "appropriateness" show, which I'll eventually after a few years push to become a 30 minute Edinburgh winner.

Tonight's Comedy at the College. Woo-har.

Laughing Horse had a gig + I've changed blog guys

Hey people I've only just met :)

I had a lovely little gig last night running Laughing Horse in Camden. Despite it in danger of being pulled, we managed to get a small number in and have a wonderful time. Peeps like Mark Davidson, Rue Barret, Mike Ramot, Mark Trinworth and Richard Fox dazzled (sorry if I've left anybody off), and with only 10 people in the audition, I managed to get a bit of laughs with my middle section (no, not my stomach, the jokes in the middle of my set).

In other news, I had to move the silly blog to another host. Don't go Wordpress, they rip off. Blogger's better (well, it seems so far, who knows).

Ta-ta for now.

LH Camden had no audience…they were all at 5 Minutes of Fame

Last night was truely odd…the one night I pushed so hard to promote had all the audience last night, while I sat at LH in Camden staring proudly at the sound system I mastered in 30 minutes, but no one came along to hear.

Methinks I have a new challenge to work through.

I’VE BEEN WRITING IN CAPS ALL DAY

IT’S BEEN LIKE THIS FOR ME ALL DAY. LIKE 99% OF COMEDIANS WHO AREN’T ANYWHERE, I HAVE TO SUPPLEMENT MY INCOME BY HAVING “A JOB”, THANKFULLY IT HAPPENS TO BE WORKING FOR A VIDEOGAMES COMPANY SO I DON’T MIND THAT MUCH. QUITE FULFILLING.

Just taking a quick breather. *lets out breath

I’m helping to run the Laughing Horse gig in Camden. No promotion, sweet Jesus thank goodness. I’m still a comedian, I just help out by taking money at the door and be there in case my partner (the long term lady who is an amazing comedienne and saw me go through those same trials) cannot make it.

SO NOW BACK TO WORK BEFORE I DIE.

The Funny Women Finals happened last night – Miss London the winner

Far be it from me to judge anyone, but some of the audience members including media and performer types who scrutinised the competitors and, I must say, made all good choices.

Well done though to the girlfriend, she did her set exactly as intended and well spoken too. For any comedian, the biggest honour besides the award for best comedy is, really, the reaction of the audience. Your stuff may split a room, but to receive the laughter of at least 300 people in one go, it’s truly the only currency we trade in.

Newest website…I’m done with making my own

Due to the web being the way it is, I have no time for wishy-washy websites detailing flashy stuff with clumsy-dumsy ways of portraying my individuality, I’m doing this.

A Blog.

By a guy.

Oh, the header above depicts me and the girlfriend in a pose I designed. Thankfully she has the correct expression that I know and love…the kind where she doesn’t get a joke I’m trying out on her. Thankfully though, not all people do the same but there is circumstances where I do once in a while lose out all ways of making everyone in the audience giggle.

Understandable, since I’m still new…and white.
